Telecommuting Position
If you're interested in telecommuting for a current manager, or even approaching someone new, then proposing the option of telecommuting is of interest to you. More and more employers are considering the telecommuting position for their employees. This would be an ideal situation for you if you're interested in working at home a few days a week.
Most employers won't start off full time at home, but will be open to increasing the days at home after a review period.
In order to approach this you need to have a plan. You need to have your research done on why telecommuting benefits the employer not the benefit of telecommuting for you. Although you can have a few things outlined of how it benefits you, but be sure to state a benefit to you as how it will also benefit them.
You need to be ready to answer tough questions the employer may have, you need to be flexible. If the only want to start with one day a week at home, or just afternoons then you need to take what they offer. Maybe suggest a 90 day review period and at the end of that 90 days if its working for you and them, ask for more days at home.
