Dear Nell,

Thank for you the leads. I read your site every morning to  see if there are any new job leads and act upon them immediately. Fortunately, I caught the Article Mojo on Monday evening, and wrote to  Kelly. Yesterday, she emailed me and VOILA!  I wrote 3 articles  yesterday morning, and re-working 20 more today. I spoke with Kelly last night, and she is wonderful!

Thank you so much for playing a major role in not only helping  me, but moms everywhere who need work at home positions.

Best Always,
Lil

"Today is my 4-year-old son's birthday.  Four years old.  I look back over the last for years with awe and wonder.  I love him and there's nothing I wouldn't do for him.

Before I even got pregnant I worked very hard to prove myself to my employers that I was a dedicated worker, and I earned the right to telecommute.  By the time I went out on maternity leave we had drafted an agreement that would allow me to work from home 2 days a week.  Luke and I quickly fell into a good routine that worked for everyone.  I had conference calls from home while feeding Luke; reviewed files while he played or rocked in his swing; and never once received a negative comment from anyone at my office.  But then for some reason things began to change at work and my telecommuting days were whittled down to one, and then, eventually, none.  By that time Luke and I were commuting 90 miles a day for my job.  I wanted him to be in a daycare close to work.  We were leaving the house by 7:00 in the morning and not getting home until 7:00 at night.  This was not good for him, or for me.  I knew something had to change.  So after 5 years of dedicated service to corporate America, I left.  I left my coworkers, my career, everything I had worked so hard to accomplish in my professional life.  In some respects, I have never been happier.

I accepted a position at a local company as a secretary.  I went from managing million dollar cases to answering phones and greeting customers.  But I did it willingly.  My commute dropped down to 3 miles a day.  My son's preschool is 5 minutes away.  And we get home and it's still daylight out.  A few months ago a renewed interest crept into my mind - why couldn't I do what I knew, what I was good at, what I loved doing, from my home?  Why couldn't I work from home and have my own business?  That's when I started searching for other people like me.  I found TelecommutingMoms.com - and little did I know, at the time, I great support system and networking forum!

Now, I’m not a very patient person when it comes to certain things.  I’ll admit it.  When I want to make a change in my professional life I want it to happen NOW!  I’m working on that.  After an agonizing month and a half – how did I ever survive (!) – I saw a posting looking for transcriptionists for a short-term project, posted by Nell.  “Yippee”, I thought, “a way to get my feet wet, gain some experience, get my typing speed back up there, and boost my self-confidence!  Well that was back in the middle of February and the project is starting to wrap up.  But what a great lead it was.  I got back into the routine of transcription again.  I’ve gotten responses from other companies to work as an independent contractor on legal type projects.  It did great things for my confidence about being able to work from home.  I figure if I can manage to do this part-time at night after working a full-time outside of the home job I can certainly get it together to have my own business from home!

Thanks, Nell & all the other ladies and gents at TelecommutingMoms.com!"
